REBELS VS ROYALS
A Cousin (albeit twice removed) of Cunaxa
This fictional scenario was the product of some time spent reading, thinking and writing about Cunaxa (401 BC/BCE). It was played solo using Simon Miller’s To The Strongest! rules as amended by Even Stronger V10. The dimensions of the tabletop were 29 squares by 8 squares, with the sides of each square measuring 4 inches. Terrain, deployments, and a description of the sharp, short action are provided on the following maps. Thanks in advance for taking the time.
Nice report, Chris. The diagrams with commentary are excellent. What's next, the Nephew of Cunaxa? ;) Cheers, Aaron
ReplyDeleteA comment? A comment on my blog?! Really?? I hope I remember how to respond.
ReplyDeleteCheers Aaron, thanks for taking the time. I confess that I was a bit concerned about the grid as well as the necessary size of the representative units on the 'maps,' but it appears to have communicated the impression - helped, as you point out, by the caption-commentary. I considered adding the symbols for combat and such, but figured that at the scale being used, these additional symbols would have complicated the visuals.
It occurs to me that this kind of report probably falls into one of the 13-14 types you mentioned in your Taxonomy of Reports, though I would have to double check.
'Nephew of Cunaxa' does not have quite the alliterative ring to it, but it would be within the extended family and perhaps provide an additional scenario. At this point, however, I do not know. I may have been too eager to contemplate Cunaxa . . .
Thanks again for reading and remarking.
